Is My Pet Stressed?

  • Last updated on January 24, 2012

There are ways to detect stress and anxiety in pets. Signs may include one or more of the following:

  • Excessive crying and/or howling
  • Drooling
  • Trembling
  • Vomiting
  • Flatulence
  • Constipation and/or diarrhea
  • Firmness of the pet’s daily excrements on a scale of 1-5
  • Excessive loss of hair/features/fur
  • Urination/defecation in inappropriate places
  • Excessive grooming
  • Chewing or scratching inappropriate objects in the home
  • A glazed look or dilated pupils
  • A change in posture and pace, a tense body

If the pet has any of these symptoms, it is important to determine what causes the stress for the benefit of the pet’s health.
